Julia's Bio

Julia Gorelik Velasco grew up in the northern suburbs of Chicago and realized early on that her desire to help people was a part of her life’s purpose and where she received the most fulfillment. After working as a recruiter for a variety of staffing agencies in Chicago and LA, and then working in-house for the Human Resources department of a large social networking site, she began to think about the bigger picture. What could utilize her skills on a broader, more impactful level while still fulfilling her desire to help others? Soon after, her friend began seeing a life coach and confided in Julia about her issues. Julia provided generous direction and positive reinforcement. And to Julia's surprise, her friend soon stopped seeing the life coach as Julia's encouragement and non-judgmental listening was cheaper and more beneficial. It was then that Julia finally discovered the profession she's been seeking all these years: a career which would encompass her natural abilities to assist people by listening attentively and encouraging them to help themselves and make their dreams a reality. Shortly after, Julia became a Certified Professional Coach from ICA (International Coach Academy).
The coaching style unique to Julia encompasses a great deal of questions and involves determining what truly influences the client and how they work. This includes using the methods to which the client responds best. Julia then utilizes this approach to encourage and enthuse the client to overcome hurdles and focus on the goal and ultimate satisfaction, which will be achieved by the accomplished goal.
While Julia spends a significant amount of time speaking with people over the phone and leading them on the path to fulfillment, she also volunteers extensively. This includes working at a local bookstore and also at a homeless shelter where Julia provides computer tutoring, conducts mock interviews, and teaches a computer class called “Using the Internet to Find a Job.” Through volunteering and changing lives, Julia is fulfilling her goals and desires to make a difference, one person at a time.
